The Old Quarry Preservation Society voted on Tuesday to grant heritage status to the scaffolding surrounding the Saltpier boardwalk carousel, on the grounds that it has now stood longer than the carousel operated.
Influencer Kip Mallow, who has documented the non-restoration daily since he was eight, called it "the greatest day of my professional life."
Restaurant owner Gita Shore was less moved. "I've served forty thousand baskets of fried clams to people photographing a fence," she said. "Fine. Good. Heritage."
